| The Euro-African Partnership for Decentralised Governance is the result of the cooperation between the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN/DESA) and Tuscany Region. The initiative is financed by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Euro African Partnership for Decentralized Governance aims to contribute to the strengthening of local governance in Africa by promoting the establishment of relationships between African and European local Institutions. Since its inception, the Partnership has welcomed the collaboration of other regions, local entities and institutions, as well as actors from Europe and Africa. |

5-7-May 2009 - Within the framework of the Euro African Partnership, the Italian Municipalities of Chiusi, Trequanda and Chianciano Terme in cooperation with “Insiemepercaso Onlus” hosted a delegation of three Municipalities of Zambia (Luanshya, Masaiti, Mpongwe) in order to make official twinnings among the cities. Twinnings were presented during the European Development Days which took place in Strasbourg on 15- 17 November 2008. During the Italian study tour the Italian and Zambian Municipalities also finalised an agreement to support a cooperation programme as well as sign the statement of intents to become member of the Euro-African Partnership. |
