19 June 2008 - The Impact of Decentralized Cooperation on the Process of Decentralization in Africa, Florence
Within the context of the Study Tour a seminar titled “The Impact of Decentralized Cooperation on Decentralization Process in Africa” was organised on 19 June. The seminar had the specific aim of stimulating discussions on many concrete aspects of Africa realities and enriching the debates between different national and international actors involved in this topic.
12-13 June 2008 - Stakeholder Forum on Development Cooperation "Role of national and local stakeholders in contributing to aid quality and effectivness"
In preparation of the biennial high-level Development Cooperation Forum (DCF), the ECOSOC office of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN/DESA) organized a Stakeholder Forum on Development Cooperation, held on 12-13 June 2008 at the FAO Headquarters, Rome, Italy
The Stakeholder Forum on Development Cooperation aimed at ensuring the substantive contribution of relevant stakeholders and represented an important opportunity to advance specific proposals for consideration by the DCF on how to further strengthen the role and impact on development cooperation of non-traditional or emerging development actors.
28-30 May 2008 - Ministerial Conference on Leadership Capacity Development for Decentralized Governance and Poverty Reduction in Africa
A Ministerial Conference on “Leadership capacity building for decentralized governance and poverty reduction in Africa” was held in Yaoundé, Cameroon, from 28 to 30 May 2008, on the theme “From Policy to Implementation: Challenges and Strategies for Effective Implementation of Decentralized governance in Africa
The event was organised by the Municipal Development Partnership in close collaboration with the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and the United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF). It was hosted by the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Decentralization of Cameroon.
26-27 May 2008 - Pre-Conference Seminar for Elected Women Local Government Leaders
The United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA), UNDP and the Euro-African Partnership for Decentralized Governance, in collaboration with the Government of Cameroon, organized a Pre-Conference Seminar for Elected Women Local Government Leaders “Strengthening Women leadership in Local Government for Effective Decentralized Governance and Poverty Reduction in Africa: Roles, Challenges and Strategies”, was held in Yaoundé, Cameroon, on 26-27 May 2008.
The purpose of the Seminar was to provide a platform for an exchange of experiences among women local government leaders from Africa and Europe on their respective challenges and to discuss strategies for strengthening leadership capacities in Africa to effectively implement decentralization governance programs for poverty reduction.
The recommendations of the Seminar were presented during the Ministerial Leadership Capacity Building Conference on the theme: “From Policy to Implementation: Challenges and Strategies for Effective Implementation of Decentralized governance in Africa” during the session on the role of women in successful implementation of decentralization policies.
10 October 2007 - Gender and Decentralisation: Promoting Women's Participation in Africa
A Conference focusing on women’s contribution to local government and decentralization processes in Sub Saharan Africa was organised in Florence. The Director of the UN Division for Public Administration and Development Management, Mr Bertucci, participated in this event among other important personalities.
16 May 2007 - The Local Institutions in Burkina Faso: new interlocutors for decentralised cooperation
The meeting was organised in Pisa and was attended by high-level officials from the Ministry for Decentralization of Burkina Faso.
14 March 2007 - Decentralization and Decentralised Cooperation in Rwanda: Evolution in its Institutional Framework and in its Relationships with Italian Municipalities.
The seminar was organised in the Municipality of Capannori (Lucca) and was attended by several participants representing the decentralized cooperation community, universities and Institutions from Tuscany supporting projects in Rwanda.
29 March 2007 - Peace, Democracy and Development: a Challenge for the new Institutions of the DRC. The Contribution of Italy and UE
The public meeting was held in Florence, at the presence of the vice Ministry of Foreign Affaires for Development Cooperation, Hon. Patrizia Sentinelli.
3 October 2006 - Presentation at the European Parliament
The Euro-African Partnership for Decentralized Governance was presented at the European Parliament on 3 October 2006 during a public hearings organized by the EP’s Development Committee.

28 - 30 august 2006 - Ministerial Conference on “Leadership capacity building for decentralized governance and poverty reduction in Africa
The conference was held in Maseru, Kingdom of Lesotho from 28th to 30th august 2006 on the theme “strengthening competencies for participatory planning and budgeting for effective local level delivery of services.”
The event was promoted by the Pan-African Conference of Ministers of Local Government, UNDESA, in collaboration with the Kingdom of Lesotho, UNDP, UNCDF and MDP.

4 July 2006 - Six new agreements with the “Euro-African Partnership” were signed by three municipalities of the province of Arezzo (Italy) and three municipality of Cameroon (Africa)
The Italian municipalities of Bucine, Civitella Val di Chiana, and Terranuova Bracciolini and the African municipalities of Banwa, Bafang, and Baku, signed an agreement with the Euro-African Partnership during a Cameroon delegation visit to Arezzo’s municipalities in the framework of a friendship pact.
In that occasion, initiatives, such as a peace demonstration, a seminar on the issue of the friendship pacts, photo exhibitions, etc, were organized by the three small municipalities of Tuscany to welcome the Cameroon delegation. The delegation was received by the President of the Regional Assembly of Tuscany, Hon. Riccardo Nencini, on July 4th in Florence.
July 2006 - 10 mayors from Burkina Faso and Rwanda in Italy for the “Euro-African Partnership for Decentralized Governance” activity
From July 1st through 12th 10 local administrators have been hosted by Italian municipalities for an institutional training.
19 June 2006 - The Association of Mali’s Municipalities signed an agreement with the Euro African Partnership
Abdel Kader Sidibe, president of MMA, the Association of the Mali’s Municipalities was in Pisa on the occasion of the Regional Conference of Tuscany about decentralized cooperation in Africa.
At the end of the Conference, he signed the agreement with the Euro-African partnership initiative on behalf of the MMA, to foster the participation of Mali’s local institutions to the creation of new collaborations with European ones.
25 May 2006 – “Eyes on Africa”
Conference promoted by the Province of Livorno in the framework of the 2006 International Cooperation Activities' Planning - in agreement with the Region of Tuscany - aimed at offering a chance for thinking over the numerous cooperation activities carried out in favour of Africa by the Local Authorities, the Municipalities, the various Companies and Associations of our territory.

The Italian Association of the Council of European Municipalities and Regions (AICCRE) held the event “Twinnings among European Municipalities today” in cooperation with the Region of Tuscany, the Province of Livorno, and the Municipality of Rosignano Marittimo.
