Twinnings bewteen Zambia and Italy
5-7-May 2009 - Within the framework of the Euro African Partnership, the Italian Municipalities of Chiusi, Trequanda and Chianciano Terme in cooperation with “Insiemepercaso Onlus” hosted a delegation of three Municipalities of Zambia (Luanshya, Masaiti, Mpongwe) in order to make official twinnings among the cities. Twinnings were presented during the European Development Days which took place in Strasbourg on 15- 17 November 2008.  
During the Italian study tour the Italian and Zambian Municipalities also finalised an agreement to support a cooperation programme as well as sign the statement of intents to become member of the Euro-African Partnership.
Support to the global action against HIV/AIDS in Sub-Saharan Africa – Ouagadougou- Burkina Faso
5-7-May 2009 - Within the framework of EUAP, CIAI NGO and the Tuscany region African Governance working group are organizing a workshop in Burkina Faso for local authorities and organizations engaged in the fight against HIV/AIDS. The purpose is to exchange experiences as well as underline the best practices adopted by the local authorities and other actors in order to sensitize the collectivity on HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted diseases problems.
Florence, Italy 5-6-7 November 2009
Within the framework of the Euro African Partnership, the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN/DESA) and the Tuscany Region, in cooperation with the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, organized the 2nd Conference of European and African Regional and Local Institutions.

The 2nd Conference focused on the topic of the impact of economic and financial crisis on local governance in Africa and on the contribution of local institutions to build up a new development. It aimed at raising international community awareness and calling for appropriate responses to crisis threatens.

The 2nd Conference was held in Florence, on 6-7 November 2009, back-to-back with a Pre-Conference dedicated specifically to investigate the role and specific contribution of women in local institutions in Africa. The Pre-Conference, held on 5 November, aimed to focus on the added value provided by the presence of women in local institutions in Africa. The outputs of this seminar were presented during the conference.
International Seminar: “The Network of Women Representatives of Local Authority Associations: Moving towards Decentralization, Good Governance and Innovation”
12 December 2008 - The seminar had the specific aim of building awareness and interest discussions about women leaders’ participation in decentralized governance and local governments in Africa and in Europe. It investigated good practices and there was an opportunity to exchange experiences and initiate concrete joint actions between networks of European and African women leaders in local governments.
The first biennial Development Cooperation Forum
30 June -1 July 2008 - The first biennial Development Cooperation Forum took place at UN Headquarters, New York. The goal of the Forum was to position the United Nations Economic and Social Council as a principal forum for global dialogue and policy review on the effectiveness and coherence of international development cooperation.
